Engineering News-Record (ENR) Northwest named Hudson Pacific Properties’ 450 Alaskan office development the 2018 Regional Best Project in the Office/Retail/Mixed-use category. The annual competition evaluated projects based on the ability to overcome challenges, industry and community contributions, safety and construction and overall design quality. Judges reviewed more than 30 projects in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
Together with GLY Construction and NBBJ, Hudson Pacific overcame numerous challenges to ensure the project and surrounding sites remained uncompromised. Situated a few feet away from the edge of the existing and soon-to-be-demolished Alaskan Way Viaduct, 450 Alaskan required an exceptional level of accuracy in design and construction to seamlessly fit into its tight quarters.
“450 Alaskan is a project we’re extremely proud of—not only because of our ability to overcome the distinct entitlement and constructability challenges, but because of the transformative impact it’s had on Pioneer Square’s revitalization, and the innovative work environments it provides for some of Seattle’s premier and fastest-growing companies,” said Andy Wattula, Senior Vice President, Pacific Northwest.
From the planning stage to completion, 450 Alaskan relied on a strong team of collaborators who excelled on all fronts to create a new, sustainable landmark in the historic Pioneer Square neighborhood.
